当地时间周日，纽约市首席法医表示，已对狱中死亡的杰弗里·爱泼斯坦(Jeffrey Epstein)进行了尸检，但对其具体死因做出判断需要更多信息。

美国联邦监狱局表示，当地时间周六早晨，他们发现涉嫌少女性交易案的百万富翁爱泼斯坦在曼哈顿的一所监狱内死亡。监狱局称，他明显是自杀。

纽约首席法医芭芭拉·桑普森（Barbara Sampson）在声明中表示，纽约法医已经对爱泼斯坦进行了尸检。在爱泼斯坦代理人的要求下，尸检在一名私人病理学家的观察下进行。桑普森表示，让私人病理学家观察尸检是常规做法。

美国联邦调查局已经展开了调查，而司法部长威廉·巴尔（William Barr）随后也宣布对爱泼斯坦的死因进行调查，并称爱泼斯坦的死是“明显的自杀”。

If Epstein’s death is still under investigation, and no one can explain yet how he killed himself, why is mainstream media reporting it definitively as a suicide? Even the FBI is calling it an “apparent suicide.”

Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell on Saturday morning, with law enforcement sources telling multiple media outlets his death was a suicide. The 66-year-old millionaire had been held in custody since his arrest last month on charges of child sex trafficking and conspiracy.

Trump’s Justice Department announced that Epstein, who was being held in a federal corrections facility, died by “apparent suicide.”

But Trump appeared to disregard his administration’s statement, instead retweeting a message from conservative actor and comedian Terrence K. Williams, who suggested that Epstein’s death might be tied to former president Bill Clinton. Williams also questioned how Epstein could have died by suicide if he had been on suicide watch.
