上面这些顶流的华人数学家还是缺乏重大原创,没有0--1的工作,多数是10--20的工作,极个别2--10的工作。这已经是华人数学天花板了。主要还是copying、跟风、在别人已有的框架内做点改进锦上添花,维持一下界面和秩序。当然这些工作总要有人做, 但好比音乐演出团体中的角色,不能大家都是鼓手吹号伴唱,也弄作曲家、几个指挥、第一第二小提琴主唱等。

如何评价ejmr论坛上关于王虹和其挂谷猜想的质疑?
帖子中有人质疑挂谷猜想被陶哲轩过度炒作,并且有个ubc的研究生声称是知情人士之一,他说论文中大部份工作是由zahl完成,特别是帖子中提到挂谷猜想以现代形式出现仅仅只有30年,这是什么意思?
目前来看,主要的公告、新闻稿和学术预印本都一致将王虹和约书亚·扎尔列为三维挂谷猜想的共同作者和共同解决者 ,何来主要工作是Zahl完成一说?
他俩主要论文题为《凸集并集的体积估计与三维挂谷集猜想》 ,一共127页的实质性预印本 。22年他俩人还共同撰写了关键前置论文《粘性挂谷集与粘性挂谷猜想》("Sticky Kakeya sets and the sticky Kakeya conjecture")


拉里·古思在他的介绍其证明的综述中,明确感谢“王虹和约书亚·扎尔就这些想法进行的许多有趣的对话,以及对本综述提出的一些有益评论” 。这表明即使在预印本提交之后,他们仍在进行深入的持续合作。




答:
没错啊,主要完成人确实是zahl,很多人只看到了王虹,其实约书亚扎尔在多年前就独立研究了三维挂谷的很多问题了,并且发表了论文,都是个人独立杰作,而王虹都是和别人合作为主;



其次,就算真是独立完成的也没啥好夸大的,近来网络上地摊自媒体都在吹嘘王虹会获菲尔兹奖那是想多了,三维挂谷在数学中地位低得很,远没国内吹嘘的那么夸张,经典调和分析的框架主体基本已经成型了,所谓的四大猜想完全就是边角外围挤牙膏而已,最多起到修补作用,对主体远没那么大影响;



作为外围修补的四大猜想,Kakeya猜想、restriction猜想、Bochner Riesz猜想、local smoothing猜想这几个,挂谷猜想的地位还是最低的,这几个猜想是递进关系,Kakeya猜想仅仅是后三个的必要条件之一但还不充分,所以即便是突破挂谷猜想距后三个的解决还很遥远



况且王虹和zahl解决的还只是三维挂谷而已,距离真正的挂谷猜想还有距离,综合而言,三维挂谷在数学界地位没那么大;



包括近期那个邓煜,也被夸大的完全不着边了,邓煜根本没有解决希尔伯特第六问题,解决的仅仅是个引理方程而已,而且这方程国际上早就有人做出来了,就是法国刘维尔方程的类似版而已,不是原创,没自媒体夸大的那么神奇!

0--1 的工作才是重大原创。
上述目前顶流的华人天花板数学家的工作没有达到亚洲的
小平邦彦 0.1--0.3、
森重文 0.3--0.5、
周炜良 0.5--0.7、
陈省身 0.6--0.8、
丘成桐 0.5--0.7、
张益堂 0.8--0.9
等的重大原创工作的水平的。
